Our Pledge
The Real Reason We Do What We Do...
Travelling is a great privilege and it have be extremely beneficial impact 0n local communities if done correctly. But without giving back to the places you visit, you can take away more than they receive. It shouldn’t be this way. When people are kind enough to allow you to explore the place they call home, it is only fair to leave it in a better way than it was when you arrived.
That’s why, from May 2026, we are proud to be committing to investing 20% of profits generated from each trip directly into the communities and natural landscapes we explore. From supporting free healthcare and social projects in Nepal, to the protection of rivers in Albania against the construction of hydroelectric dams, we have partnered with foundations in each of our destinations, who ensure that as much money as possible is invested in the causes we feel so strongly about.
Also, seeing a crisp packet or a can of coke on a remote trail makes me feel disappointed that some tourists decide to treat landscapes in this way. As tourists, we have a duty to treat the places we go with respect. Because of this, in our guided itineraries across Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, and the Balkans, we will be providing bin bags for the group, with the aim of helping to clean up the trails that we are so lucky to be able to experience firsthand.
3 Key Areas
Community
Lanscapes
Wildlife
Why These?
These are our three core focus areas of impact for a few reasons. Firstly, these are the areas I am most passionate about. I love to see how people from different cultures live their lives, especially in more rural communities. I’m an absolute sucker for mountains, rivers or anything that I look at and wonder how on earth it was formed. And seeing an animal in person that I have only ever seen on a David Attenborough documentary is one of the most amazing feelings. Big businesses and governments can put all of these areas at risk, generally to try and help some extremely wealthy people make even more money. On top of this, climate change has put unneeded added pressures on them. I can’t just sit back and not do anything.
Secondly, without these 3 things we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Communities provide accommodation, food, and maintenance of the trails. Nature provides peace and breathtaking scenery. Wildlife for being kind and welcoming us into their back garden. To help contribute to the future of these environments, ensuring they are there for locals and wildlife long into the future, is non-negotiable for me. It would go against my morals to run trips in these regions without investing into the communities and landscapes we explore.
Finally, these areas create the stories that we will be telling people for the rest of our lives. Whether it’s somebody welcoming you to camp in their garden in Patagonia, seeing a bullet ant in the Amazon rainforest, or whatever first comes to your mind when someone asks about your experiences, travel provides us with these stories. Without local communities, natural landscapes, and wildlife, this wouldn’t be possible.
If you are wondering exactly who or where money will be going in each country, drop us a message and we will be more than happy to share.
In the UK
To help offset carbon emissions from the travelling I have done, I occasionally help with local groups to plant trees. Pictured here in March 2026, we planted 500 trees on farmland near Macclesfield. It’s tough, but very rewarding work.
